David Howes, MD
President and Chief Executive Officer

Dr. David Howes began his medical career as a family physician serving the small, rural fishing community of Stonington, Maine. This experience taught him the importance of engaging patients in their own healthcare, helping to improve health outcomes and better manage the cost of care. He brought this philosophy to Martin’s Point Health Care in 1989 as a primary care physician and now serves as the President and CEO, a position he has held since 1996. Deeply committed to the Martin’s Point mission, David has dedicated his career to creating a healthier community.

David is involved with numerous health care and business organizations and was inducted into the Junior Achievement Business Hall of Fame in 2019. He currently presides as Chair of the Board of Directors for the Alliance of Community Health Plans and serves on the Boards of the US Family Health Plan Alliance and the Maine Guaranteed Access Reinsurance Association. He is also a current member of the American College of Physician Executives and the American Academy of Family Practice.

David earned his medical degree from Dartmouth Medical School in Hanover, New Hampshire, and served residencies at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, the Medical Center Hospital of Vermont in Burlington, and the Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor Maine. In 2020, David was granted an Honorary Degree in Humane Letters from the University of Southern Maine.

Outside of work, David enjoys spending time with his children—who inspire world travel—as well as many outdoor activities including sailing, hiking and biking.

Jonathan Harvey, MD
Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Harvey graduated from Harvard College and Dartmouth Medical School, and completed his residency in Family Medicine at Maine Medical Center. He has been a practicing physician in Gorham, Maine, for 15 years.

Dr. Harvey has held many leadership positions, including serving on the Maine Medical Center Physician Hospital Organization Board of Directors. A member of the Martin's Point Health Care Senior Leadership Team since 2010, Jonathan is a passionate voice for revolutionizing health care and a gifted physician sought out for his ability to deliver exceptional care.

Teresa Nizza
Chief Human Resources Officer

With more than 20 years of experience as a Human Resource professional, Ms. Nizza has led HR efforts for several large organizations in Maine, including the Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland, Tufts Health Plan, Tom’s of Maine, and Central Maine Health Care. As Chief Human Resources Officer, Ms. Nizza is responsible for the overall stewardship of People and Culture at Martin’s Point.

In addition to her Human Resources leadership responsibilities—including Talent Acquisition, Training & Development, Employee Relations, Benefits, Compensation, Organizational Communications, and HR Operations—Ms. Nizza also leads our Executive Office Administration and our Martin’s Point Management System team focused on organizational process improvement.

Ms. Nizza holds a Master of Arts in Multi-Cultural Ministry from the Franciscan School of Theology in Berkeley, California.  She has served in a variety of ministries for children and adults in Maine with a focus on communal and personal relationship

Jeffrey L. Brown
Chief Information Officer

Jeffrey L. Brown is a technology professional with a background in health care information technology, operations, and business executive leadership. He joined Martin’s Point in 2017 with more than 15 years of progressive experience in a variety of industries, including academic medical and research centers, a highly rated consulting firm, not-for-profit organizations, and electronic health records vendors.

Mr. Brown is a seasoned strategist, most recently holding CIO positions at Seattle Children’s Hospital (WA) and Lawrence General Hospital (MA). Over the years, he has shared his wealth of experience with students in health informatics, health care analytics, and health management by teaching and developing leading educational programs at Brandeis University, Northeastern University, the College of William and Mary, and the University of Washington. Jeff received his MS in Health Care Informatics along with his Executive Master in Management and Leadership from MIT Sloan.

Amanda Jackson
Chief Financial Officer

Ms. Jackson brings a wealth of experience to Martin’s Point, most recently as Chief Financial Officer at Senior Whole Health, a mission-driven division of Magellan Health in Cambridge, Massachusetts. There she oversaw a $1.7B budget, helped create a business model for an innovative health care plan for people who qualify for both Medicare and Medicaid, and developed a growth strategy to address growing market competition and new regulations.

Before serving as CFO, Ms. Jackson held three other positions at Senior Whole Health, including Director of Finance. Prior to that, she held positions at Commonwealth Care Alliance in Boston, Massachusetts and WellMed Medical Management in San Antonio, Texas.

Her professional accomplishments include leading finance, accounting, and analytics teams; navigating regulatory and audit requirements; and identifying operational efficiencies. She also brings experience with mergers and acquisitions, financial analysis, and health care economics.

Ms. Jackson earned a master’s degree in business administration from Simmons College, and a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a specialization in finance from The Ohio State University.
