David Howes, MD
President and Chief Executive Officer

Dr. David Howes began his medical career as a family physician serving the small, rural fishing community of Stonington, Maine—an experience that taught him the importance of engaging patients in their own health care. He brought this philosophy to Martin’s Point Health Care in 1989 as a primary care physician and now serves as the President and CEO, a position he has held since 1996. 

David currently presides as Chair of the Board of Directors for the Alliance of Community Health Plans. He also serves on the Boards of the US Family Health Plan Alliance and the Maine Guaranteed Access Reinsurance Association. He is a current member of the American College of Physician Executives and the American Academy of Family Practice.

David earned his medical degree from Dartmouth Medical School and served residencies at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, the Medical Center Hospital of Vermont in Burlington, and the Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, Maine. 


Jonathan Harvey, MD
Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Jonathan Harvey graduated from Harvard College and Dartmouth Medical School and completed his residency in Family Medicine at Maine Medical Center. He has been a practicing physician in Gorham, Maine for 15 years. As Chief Medical Officer, Jonathan is responsible for overseeing the overall medical policies and practices across our Martin’s Point Delivery System.

Jonathan has held many leadership positions, including serving on the Maine Medical Center Physician Hospital Organization Board of Directors. A member of the Martin's Point Health Care Senior Leadership Team since 2010, Jonathan is a passionate voice for revolutionizing health care and a gifted physician sought out for his ability to deliver exceptional care.


Teresa Nizza
Chief Human Resources Officer

With more than 20 years of experience as a Human Resource professional, Teresa Nizza has led HR efforts for several large organizations in Maine, including the Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland, Tufts Health Plan, Tom’s of Maine, and Central Maine Health Care. As Chief Human Resources Officer, Teresa is responsible for the overall stewardship of People and Culture at Martin’s Point.
In addition to her Human Resources leadership responsibilities, Teresa also leads our Executive Office Administration and our Martin’s Point Management System team focused on organizational process improvement.

Teresa holds a Master of Arts in Multi-Cultural Ministry from the Franciscan School of Theology in Berkeley, California.  


Amanda Jackson
Chief Financial Officer

Amanda Jackson has a wealth of finance and leadership experience, most recently serving as Chief Financial Officer at Senior Whole Health, a division of Magellan Health in Massachusetts. There she oversaw a $1.7B budget, helped create a business model for an innovative health plan for those on both Medicare and Medicaid, and developed a growth strategy to address growing competition and new regulations. Prior to that, Amanda held positions at Commonwealth Care Alliance in Massachusetts and WellMed Medical Management in Texas.

Amanda earned a master’s degree in business administration from Simmons College and a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a specialization in finance from The Ohio State University. 



Dan McCormack 
Chief Operating Officer, Delivery System

Dan McCormack has over 25 years of experience on both the insurance and delivery system sides of health care—including his 15 years as CEO of InterMed and as an executive at Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield. As Chief Operating Officer for our Delivery System, Dan leads our strategic efforts to drive growth, promote workforce development, improve patient experience, and enhance physician engagement.

Dan received his bachelor’s degree in Economics from Harvard College and his MBA from the University of Southern Maine and served as a US Air Force Medical Service Corps officer. He chairs the University of New England’s Board of Trustees and serves on the boards of Gorham Savings Bank and The Daniel Hanley Center for Health Leadership.  


Steve Amendo
Chief Marketing Officer

Steve Amendo has more than 17 years of marketing experience in agency and corporate environments in both for- and not-for-profit organizations. As Chief Marketing Officer, Steve is responsible for the marketing efforts for Martin’s Point, including customer acquisition and retention, internal and external communications, community engagement, PR and media relations, brand identity, and business development and market analysis.

Steve is currently the Vice Chair for the Board of Directors for the Southern Maine YMCA. He is a member of the Portland Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and is a member of the Live + Work Maine Advisory Board. Steve holds a bachelor’s degree from Hobart and William Smith Colleges and an MBA from Northeastern University.


Chuck Piacentini
General Counsel & Chief Legal Officer

Chuck Piacentini brings extensive private and corporate legal experience to his leadership role in Compliance and Legal Affairs. Chuck previously served as Chief Counsel for the American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI)—a policy and advocacy trade association representing many of the nation’s largest insurers. Prior to ACLI, Chuck spent 17 years as in-house counsel for Unum, Inc., providing state legislative and regulatory advocacy, product approvals, and litigation management. In his private practice, Chuck counseled and represented companies and individuals in matters including medical/personal injury liability, contract disputes, and business and employment policies and practices.

Chuck received his bachelor’s degree in Economics and Government at Bowdoin College and his JD from Loyola University of Chicago, School of Law.


Bernadette Di Re
Chief Operating Officer, Health Plans

Bernadette Di Re has over 25 years of experience in health plan administration for both for- and not-for-profit organizations. Formerly, Bernadette was CEO of the UnitedHealthcare Community Plans in Massachusetts (an integrated Medicare/Medicaid plan earning a CMS 5-star rating) and Rhode Island (Medicaid managed care programs earning NCQA’s highest quality rating). Bernadette also held leadership positions in Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial plans at Fallon Community Health Plan, Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, and Neighborhood Health Plan.

Bernadette received her MBA in International Business from The American University and BS in Marketing from Georgetown University. She serves on the board of Community Resources for Justice, and is a member of Women in Healthcare Management and a mentor for Women UNLIMITED, Inc.
