Across Maine, many people experience barriers to enjoying the outdoors. Securing the proper clothing and equipment needed for a safe, positive experience can be a challenge.
Founded in 2017, Maine GearShare is a nonprofit outdoor gear lending library and repair shop that works to remove these barriers. By providing the gear needed to explore the outdoors safely and comfortably, the organization works to expand outdoor access for all.
The organization's gear sharing service and inventory is located in Brunswick, Maine.
In May, Martin's Point teamed up with Maine GearShare to sponsor a fix-it event offering free repairs to outdoor clothing and gear.
The event supported the mission of keeping bruised gear out of landfills while promoting the mental and physical health of local teens through outdoor activity.
