Special Surfers is a non-profit organization sharing the empowering experience of surfing with children and young adults of all ages with special needs.
This program provides the public with a view toward the joy a community can bring to the lives of individuals with special needs and their families through volunteerism and generosity.
Special Surfers hosts “Special Surfer Nights” on the third Tuesday of June, July, and August each summer. The events take place at Gooch’s Beach in Kennebunk and rely on hundreds of volunteers.
“Martin’s Point’s financial support of Special Surfers has enabled the organization to continue to provide programing to a growing number of surfers and their families free of charge. Martin’s Point’s contributions have funded the acquisition of solid and supportive infrastructure to ensure good care for the surfers, including specialized race chairs attached to surf boards to enable the most challenged children to safely participate."
