Childhood summers spent at my grandparents in Owl’s Head made the Maine seacoast a second home to me. I returned to study at the University of New England after being exposed to the philosophy of osteopathic medicine -an approach to health that was centered on primary care, the self-regulating mechanisms of the individual and the essential integration of body, mind, and spirit. Having spent nearly a decade dancing professionally, my interests in anatomy and the relationship of structure to function were clearly established and studying osteopathy presented a compelling path for someone new to the fields of science and health care.
