TRICARE® Young Adult Prime

TRICARE Young Adult (TYA) Prime is a premium-based health plan available for purchase by qualified dependents.

The plan includes medical and prescription drug benefits, but excludes dental coverage. 

You can purchase TYA from Martin’s Point through the US Family Health Plan, our TRICARE Prime® option.

  • No deductibles or cost shares for in-network preventive services
  • Annual physicals and eye exams, laboratory tests, prenatal and postnatal maternity care at no additional cost
  • Comprehensive prescription drug coverage
  • Emergency and urgent care available anywhere in the world
  • Mental health and substance abuse care through the Behavioral Health Care Program
  • Patient advocates who will make sure you’re getting the best care possible during hospital stays
  • Point-of-Service benefit for medically necessary, non-emergency, non-urgent care outside of network without a referral from your primary care provider (PCP).

Who is eligible for the TRICARE® Young Adult Prime plan?

If you are an adult-age dependent, you may purchase TYA coverage based on the eligibility established by your uniformed-service sponsor and where you live.

You may purchase TYA coverage if you are all of the following:

  • A dependent of an eligible uniformed-service sponsor
  • Unmarried
  • At least age 21 but not yet 26 years old*
  • Not eligible to enroll in an employer-sponsored health plan based on your own employment
  • Not otherwise eligible for TRICARE program coverage

*If you are enrolled in a full-time course of study at an approved institution of higher learning and your sponsor provides more than 50 percent of your financial support, your eligibility may not begin until age 23 or upon graduation, whichever comes first.

Note: Special eligibility conditions may exist.
