As we ring in the new year, it’s a great time to commit to taking great care of your health in 2025. If you haven’t already scheduled your all-important annual preventive care visits, we invite you to do so now. Please reach out through the MyMartinsPoint® patient portal or give us a call to get those visits on the books before too much time goes by. We look forward to seeing you!
Flu Cases Are on the Rise
• Get vaccinated: It is important to protect yourself and those around you during the cold and flu season. Remember to wash hands, cover coughs, and get your flu vaccine if you haven’t already. Flu season can last through early spring, so it’s not too late to get vaccinated. Ask for your vaccine at an existing appointment with your Martin’s Point provider.
• Mask up: Please wear a mask covering your nose and mouth when visiting our health care centers if you have cough or cold symptoms. Thank you for helping protect the health of our staff and fellow patients!
Scheduling Appointments—Taking Actions to Meet Our Patients’ Needs
As we strive to offer timely appointments for all our patients, please note the following:
• Increased phone and text reminders: You may notice more automated appointment reminder/confirmation messages coming from our new number: 207-813-2177. Please promptly respond confirming or canceling appointments so we can quickly reschedule you and offer any opened time slots to patients with urgent needs or on our newly available waitlist (see below).
• Cancellations and missed appointments: We require at least a 24-hour notice to reschedule or cancel an appointment so we can offer openings to other patients. Patients who repeatedly miss or cancel appointments with no or short notice (within 24 hours of the appointment time) may be disengaged from the practice.
• NEW! Waitlist option: Wishing to be seen sooner? You can now join a waitlist to be contacted if an appointment becomes available sooner than one you have scheduled.
IMPORTANT: The first patient on a waitlist will receive one text message when an appointment becomes available. The spot will be held for 30 minutes during which they must reply to the text message accepting or declining the appointment. If they do not accept/decline or respond at all within the 30-minute period, the appointment will be offered to the next patient on the waitlist.
Portland Campus Construction Begins
With the aim of centralizing all our administrative functions at the Veranda Street Campus in Portland, Martin’s Point officially began our construction process on February 1, 2025. The project will not impact services or patient access at the Portland Health Care Center. Visitors to our Veranda Street campus should use the main entrance at the traffic light to access all site facilities, including the Health Care Center, the parking garage and outdoor parking, and the Alliance Physical Therapy clinic. To learn more please visit our Campus Enhancements webpage.
Safety First at Our Health Care Centers—Wheelchairs Available
Winter weather is here and that can mean slippery conditions underfoot. For your safety, we have wheelchairs available for use when entering and leaving our Health Care Centers. We also offer drop-off and pick-up parking close to the entrance of each facility.
HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH—Reducing risks through awareness and education.
February is American Heart Month
Heart disease is a leading cause of death for both men and women in the United States, but there is much you can do to protect your heart and stay healthy. To learn more, visit: The National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute. Be sure to wear red on February 2, National Wear Red Day®, to raise awareness of heart disease and inspire others to learn about heart-healthy living.
Wishing you good health,
Dan McCormack
