Working together for the greater good.

We focus on reducing food insecurity, improving access to critical social and health/well-being services, promoting healthy activities, supporting the arts and education, and more.


APEX Youth Connection

Growing healthy minds and bodies.

Their school-year and summer programs empower and inspire youth through hands-on and outdoor adventure.

Through a $5,000 contribution from Martin's Point, twenty young people were able to attend programs this year and receive sunscreen and other supplies they might not have been able to afford.

My Breast Cancer Support

Committed to supporting cancer patients.

Martin's Point 17-year commitment of support—including sponsorship of their "Celebrate Pink 5K" fundraiser—has helped this local organization fulfill their mission of providing financial and emotional support to breast cancer patients and their families in coastal New Hampshire and southern Maine.

Maine Celtics Living Healthy Program

Inspiring kids to start healthy habits early.

Through our sponsorship of the program, Maine Celtics players, staff, and team mascot, Crusher, conduct Living Healthy lessons with students from local elementary schools with a focus on the impact healthy foods and activities have on our bodies—including topics around diet, daily exercise, sleep, and making healthy decisions.

Girl Scouts of Maine

Inspiring women entrepreneurs of the future.

With our $5,000 sponsorship of the Girl Scouts Cookie Entrepreneur Family Pin Program, families across Maine participated at no cost. The Girl Scout Cookie Program is the largest girl-led entreprenurial program in the world and the Family Pin helps Scouts of all ages learn financial literacy skills and encourages families to engage in their girls' activities and interests.

Partners for World Health

Sending medical supplies around the globe.

Every year, Martin's Point volunteers help sort and pack donated medical supplies destined for countries in need across the world. In 2024, we also boosted awareness of their mission and signature fundraiser, "Blue Wrap Project Runway," displaying their creative fashions at our Portland Health Care Center and helping raise over $130,000 in event donations.

Make A Wish supporters

Make-A-Wish Maine

Bringing joy during trying times.

Each year, Martin's Point sponsors the wish of a Maine child experiencing serious illness. Our 2024 Wisher, Acadia, was a 7-year-old with a respiratory disorder and a heart set on visiting the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando. Hogwarts-inspired employees gathered for a proper Martin's Point send off at the Portland Jetport for Acadia and her family.

In addition to financial support, Martin's Point employees step up to walk, run, bike, ski, swim, bowl, and more to support fundraising events of area nonprofits who share our focus on health and well-being.

 

Maine GearShare/Teens to Trails

Gear repairs for a cause.

In May, Martin's Point teamed up with Maine GearShare and Teens to Trails to sponsor a fix-it event offering free repairs to outdoor clothing and gear. The event supported the missions of both Brunswick nonprofits—keeping bruised gear out of landfills while promoting the mental and physical health of local teens through outdoor activity.

Martin's Point Summer Internship Program

Students get real work experience.

Our Summer Internship Program is an overall winning proposition—area colleges appreciate the student career exploration opportunities, interns gain skills and experience in a health care environment, and we boost our summer workforce with potential permanent hires. In 2024, 17 students joined the 100+ interns hosted since the program's inception.

Travis Mills volunteers

Travis Mills Foundation

On the move for veterans.

The Travis Mills Foundation serves post-9/11 veterans overcoming physical and emotional obstacles due to service injuries. In 2024, we sponsored their Miles for Mills 5K fundraiser with several employees participating.

Vicky Dube (Clinical Support) shared, "My father and son don't like to talk to us about what they did/saw. To have a group that's been in their shoes to talk to is amazing!"

Maine/New Hampshire Senior Games

Inspiring life-long health.

For 15+ years, our presenting sponsorship of the Maine Senior Games has supported active lifestyles for area seniors. We fund the Celebration of Athletes Dinner, encourage employee volunteerism, and participate on the Advisory Board.  Since 2019, we've extended our support as the presenting sponsor of the New Hampshire Senior Games.

Portland Trails

A holiday dash for the trails.

For 15+ years, our partnership with Portland Trails has helped create connections between neighbors, communities, and the natural world—enhancing physical and mental health through outdoor activity. We proudly sponsored their Holiday Dash 5K Walk/Run, with a group of our employees supporting their signature fundraiser to help maintain 70+ miles of trails.

Caring for our community is an integral part of our mission. Inspired and supported by our Volunteer Time Off (VTO) benefit, close to 500 employees put their energy and skills to work at local nonprofits.

Martin's Point Annual Giving Campaign

Over $1,000,000 raised for our community since 2015.

During our Annual Giving Campaign, employees generously pledge the financial support many community nonprofits rely on for their critical work—primarily partnering with the local United Way, MaineShare, and Creating Healthier Communities. Recently, our organizational match tipped us over the million-dollar mark for overall Martin's Point Campaign contributions since 2015.

Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program

Providing free, healthy meals to local Mainers.

In addition to our $5,000 donation, Martin's Point volunteers sorted and packed food for free grocery and meal deliveries at the Brunswick headquarters of the Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program. Our sponsorship and manpower helped them fulfill their mission to fight growing food insecurity experienced by our neighbors in over six Maine counties.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Maine

Striking it big—supporting local kids.

In addition to several employees mentoring local children, 65 Martin's Point bowlers joined our Bowling for Kids' Sake fundraising events to support BBBS of Southern Maine. Martin's Point held the spring and fall events with employees raising $5,600. Combined with a Martin's Point organizational match, the $11,200 total contribution made 2024 our top year to date.

From our shelves to our community's.

With convenient drop boxes at our health care centers and administrative facilities, our supply drives for local nonprofits are an easy way for employees to make a difference while inviting our patients and members to join in the giving—with the side benefit of raising general awareness of these organizations and the populations they serve.

Encouraging volunteerism with impressive results.

Building on enthusiasm generated by our first Days of Service initiative in 2023, annual efforts inspire even more employees to use their VTO to give back to our communities and connect with colleagues. Supporting over 35 community nonprofits, the simple act of hundreds of employees coming together for the collective good made these days both successful and special.
