Save money and avoid reimbursement hassle by getting your vaccines at a pharmacy.
Vaccines are one of the most important tools we have to stay healthy. Did you know that getting them at your local pharmacy instead of at your PCP’s office may help save money and avoid paying upfront and requesting reimbursement?
Avoid the reimbursement request process.
When you get a Part D vaccination at your doctor’s office:
- You may get a bill and have to pay for the full cost of the vaccine medication, the cost of the provider to give it to you, and possibly an office visit copay.
- After you pay the full cost, you can ask the plan to reimburse you for our share of the cost.
- For most adult Part D vaccines, you will be reimbursed the full amount you paid. For other Part D vaccines, you will receive partial reimbursement depending on cost shares, etc.
Recommended: get your vaccine at your pharmacy.
- For most Part D vaccines, you pay nothing at the pharmacy for the vaccine medication and the cost of the pharmacist to give it to you. There is no office visit copay.
- The pharmacy bills the health plan directly, so, for most Part D vaccines, you won’t receive a bill and there’s no need to request reimbursement.
In addition to the convenience of avoiding the reimbursement process, the overall savings translate into lower costs for both you and your health plan—helping keep premiums stable.
Trust your local pharmacist.
Pharmacists are licensed professionals who safely provide vaccines against flu, shingles, COVID-19, and more every year. You can trust the same high-quality care you’d expect anywhere else.
Choosing the pharmacy for your vaccines is a smart decision for your health, your wallet, and your community.
