The Martin's Point Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Program allows individuals who are not currently enrolled in a degree program to participate in a clinical, patient-focused environment while enrolled in an accredited institution. No prior clinical experience is required.
At the end of the program, students earn their certification by taking and passing the Medical Assistant Certification Exam.
The Martin's Point Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Program gives Medical Assistant students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience through an apprenticeship at one of our local Health Care Centers. Additionally, participants further their knowledge by taking courses through local educational institutions.
At the conclusion of the program, all Medical Assistant Apprentices will be scheduled for an interview in consideration for a Medical Assistant position.
Martin’s Point Health Care offers Externships for Medical Assistant students enrolled in a Medical Assistant educational program. Externships are unpaid and 160 hours in length. Medical Assistant Externs are paired with an Medical Assistant Mentor for their clinical rotation.

Medical Assistant Apprentices work 20 hours per week at one of the Martin's Point Health Care Centers, which are located in the following areas in Maine and New Hampshire:
At the end of the program, Medical Assistant Apprentices will be eligible to sit for the Medical Assistant Certification Exam. Medical Assistant Certification is awarded to apprentices who successfully pass the exam.
