Dear Martin’s Point Patient,

Congratulations to Our PAs on Their New Title: Physician Associates

We’re proud to share that the American Academy of Physician Associates (AAPA) and related organizations have updated the PA title from Physician Assistant to Physician Associate. This new name better reflects the important work PAs do and how much they contribute to your care.

Who are Physician Associates?

Physician Associates are licensed medical professionals with advanced training. They provide direct care to patients, focusing on prevention, education, and managing ongoing health conditions. With their wide range of medical knowledge, PAs use a wholistic approach to support your overall well-being.

Working together for you

At Martin’s Point, our Physician Associates are key members of your care team. They work side by side with our doctors (MDs and DOs) and Nurse Practitioners (NPs) to make sure you get the care you need when you need it. Whether you see one provider or several, everyone works together to keep your care coordinated and connected. Our goal is simple: to help you feel your best and well cared for.

Stay Healthy This Holiday Season with Flu/COVID Vaccinations

The holidays are a time for gathering and celebrating with family and friends. Make sure you stay healthy all season long by keeping your vaccinations up to date.

Flu and COVID-19 vaccines help protect you—and those you love—by strengthening your immune system and reducing the risk of serious illness. They’re especially important for those at higher risk, like young children, adults over 65, and people with weakened immune systems.

You can get your flu and COVID-19 shots at your next visit to one of our health care centers. Schedule today through the patient portal or give us a call—we’re here to help you stay well through the holidays and beyond!

Help Us Protect Patients and Staff at Our Health Care Centers

If you have symptoms of a cold or flu, please wear a mask when visiting our Health Care Centers. Masking helps reduce the spread of respiratory viruses and keeps our patients, visitors, and care teams safe, especially those with weakened immune systems.

Thank you for helping protect our community! To learn more about when to wear a mask, visit the CDC website.

November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month and Diabetes Awareness Month

Lung Cancer

Smoking tobacco is by far the leading cause of lung cancer. About 85% of lung cancer deaths in 2025 are expected to be caused by smoking, and many others will be caused by exposure to secondhand smoke. Join the American Cancer Society on the third Thursday in November for the Great American Smokeout to start your smoke-free journey.

Join thousands of others who smoke across the country in taking an important step toward a healthier life and reducing your risk of cancer. Visit their website to access the resources and support you need to quit.

Diabetes

Over 38 million children and adults have diabetes in the United States. Early detection and treatment of the disease can decrease complication risks. Discuss any of these common warning signs and symptoms of diabetes with your care team:

  • Urinating often
  • Feeling very thirsty
  • Feeling very hungry—even though you are eating
  • Extreme fatigue
  • Blurry vision
  • Cuts/bruises that are slow to heal
  • Weight loss—even though you are eating more (type 1)
  • Tingling, pain, or numbness in the hands/feet (type 2)

Whether you're newly diagnosed, have had type 1 or type 2 diabetes for a while, or you're helping a loved one, we have tools to help. Visit our webpage for more information and to access our Diabetes Management Tracker and Diabetes Action Plan free to download.
