Urgent care centers typically operate beyond your PCP's regular office hours and are often less expensive than an Emergency Room. Visit an urgent care when you have non-life-threatening conditions that require prompt attention and can’t be addressed by your PCP, such as:
The ER is the best choice when conditions are life- or limb-threatening and may require advanced treatment. Examples include severe abdominal pain, sudden severe headache, severe burns, uncontrolled bleeding, serious injuries to the head or eyes, and displaced fractures.
