The Statin Therapy for Patients with Cardiovascular Disease (SPC) measure is a key performance metric used by NCQA to assess the quality of care provided to individuals with cardiovascular disease.
The SPC measure is the percentage of US Family Health Plan beneficiaries aged 21-75 with clinical Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease (ASCVD) who have at least 1 fill of a moderate or high-intensity statin medication during the measurement year and the member remained on the statin medication for at least 80% of the treatment period.
Our goal is to ensure eligible patients with ASCVD are prescribed a statin unless they meet certain exclusion criteria. Documentation of exclusions each year is important to maintain accurate information and properly exclude patients from this measure calculation.
