Older adults face greater risk.

As we head into another respiratory virus season, protecting yourself from flu, RSV, and COVID-19 is especially important for older adults and people with certain health conditions.

As we age, changes in the immune system can make it harder for the body to fight off respiratory infections. Older adults and people with chronic conditions such as lung disease, heart disease or diabetes, as well as those with weakened immune systems, may be at higher risk for severe illness from respiratory viruses.

Flu vaccination is an important first step.

The flu vaccine is recommended every year for everyone 6 months and older. It is especially important for people at higher risk as mentioned above and those who live with or regularly spend time with people at higher risk.

Here’s how to get your flu shot.

Generations Advantage members have two ways to get a flu shot at no cost:

  • Present your Generations Advantage member ID card at a participating network pharmacy.
  • At your primary care provider’s office. There is no cost for the flu shot, but you may have an office visit copay, depending on your plan.
