Stay protected this flu season with a free shot from your pharmacy or provider.

Flu season is here, and if you haven’t gotten your flu shot yet, now’s the time. Flu activity usually starts rising in October, peaks between December and February, and can last into May. While the flu shot can’t guarantee complete protection, it greatly lowers your risk of serious illness, hospitalization, and even death.

Who should get vaccinated?

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention recommends flu shots to everyone 6 months and older. Talk with your provider if you have had a severe reaction to the flu vaccine before, or have a moderate or severe illness or fever.

How to get your flu shot.

Generations Advantage members have two ways to get a flu shot at no cost:

  • Through a participating network pharmacy by presenting your Martin’s Point Generations Advantage member ID card.
  • At your primary care provider’s office. There is no cost for the flu shot, but you may have an office visit copay, depending on your plan.

Other ways to prevent the flu.

  • Avoid sick people and limit contact with others when you’re sick. You should be fever-free for 24 hours before going out.
  • Cover your sneezes and coughs.
  • Clean and disinfect shared surfaces.
  • Wash your hands with soap and water or use sanitizer.
