If you take any Tier 3, 4, or 5 medications, you will pay the full cost for these drugs until your plan’s deductible is met. Once you meet the deductible, you enter the Part D initial coverage phase for drugs in these tiers and the plan begins sharing costs for these medications. Drugs in other tiers start in the Part D initial coverage phase with no deductible.
A deductible is an amount you pay out of pocket for these drugs before the health plan starts sharing their cost.
There may be lower-cost options for medications in Tiers 3, 4, or 5. Review your plan’s formulary, or list of covered drugs, at MartinsPoint.org/PartD and ask your provider if alternatives may work for you.
You may also be eligible to pay out-of-pocket prescription costs through capped monthly payments instead of all at once at the pharmacy. Ask your pharmacist or provider about the Medicare Prescription Payment Plan or visit MartinsPoint.org/M3P to learn more.
Find details of your Part D coverage, including deductible amount, in your Evidence of Coverage at MartinsPoint.org/EOC.
