Maine Mariners | Military Appreciation Night
The highlight of the Military Appreciation Night with the Maine Mariners, sponsored by Martin’s Point, was a ceremonial puck drop by Coast Guard veteran Doug VanKampen Doug, a graduate and volunteer of Maine Paws for Veterans. Doug was joined at center ice by his service dog, Buster, and Kristina Couch, Buster's foster mom and a board member of the program. This special event also included a $5,000 donation presented by Martin's Point to Maine Paws for Veterans, supporting their mission to connect veterans with service dogs. In a touching addition, Doug’s wife, Corrie VanKampen, also a Coast Guard veteran, was honored with a quilt from Quilts of Valor as a token of appreciation for her service and sacrifice.
